He came, saw and conquered her......

Well i just got this link in one of the fwd n i m really shocked.......How can be media be so insensitive. Check out the link : http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-1249434,curpg-1,fright-0,right-0.cms

I am just attaching a snapshot of the news article, just in case the article is removed from the site

TOI never had reputation of being a 'family' paper.......with the emphasis primarily on scantily dressed models.....the focus has shifted from the news content to masala. but this is the height of apathy...the brazen, shameless act which have ruined the life of a happy couple is being potrayed as an act of bravado....as if that man has won a gold medal in the Olympics or hv scaled Mt Everest. n the woman is being depicted as the prized catch.

it shud hv been the responsiblity of the media to raise voice against such kind of barbarous acts, but it seems TOI has decided to look the other way........... maybe by this they wud attract a few more hits on its site, may even get sum users to switch from the porn sites to its site, but they r doing a great damage to the society. The media has got a great pull on the society. n the faster the media realises this, the better it wud be for the society.

In my opinion rape is the most despicable act of crime a man cud ever commit. Sometimes wen u hear bout these kinda incidents u feel that u r so lucky whereas as some others are not. Suddenly u dont feel like crying for ur own troubles but for others...... the lady in the article wud hv given the hunter food n shelter considering him as husband's friend, n he did everything to shatter her trust...... now it wud be really difficult to trust anyone else in her life.....the mental pain n agony the lady wud hv to bear all through out her life....... n this incident wud continue to haunt her fr the years to come. The world has become so greedy and selfish that we don't care for anyone else anymore other than ourselves. Its just that for some people this greed overcomes their senses to such an extent that they are incapable of differentiating the right from wrong. And innocent people suffer........

maybe after the public outcry, TOI may remove this link from their site....may claim tht it was an error on the part of sum journalist.......... may be sum other news story got mixed this one......... but the damage has been already done.... an appology on their side wud help to soothe the nerves.

I throughly agree with you on the part that the heading clearly glorifies the hideous act the man performed, though the article itself is quite neutral the heading looks like written by a male chavinist. But the major part of the picture is that the Jounalism in India has detiorated in standard and increased in number. All the spicy serials like Crime File and if that wasn't enough " Kal Kapal Mahakal!!!!" gives you an irritating feeling for the indian media. And these things are selling as well otherwise they would fail to exist. Hence i think rather than blaming all on TOI one should also see the larger picture of mass of people who do read such articles with such headings. Anyways i do agree here the impetus is on TOI's fault for such dalefull heading but the article seen as one off may not solve any purpose.

This reminds me of a news item and a pic in TOI during Godhra riots.Where a person with joined hands tears in his eyes requesting the person of the other community (not to kill him)That pic appeared in media too many times..few days later I saw the same pic in TOI saying that this person (name) has left Gujrat because he felt ashamed of the pic etc.. and now stays in Mumbai.the poor guy...where sh he go now.

I think its the Junta that is also resposible for all this

Toi people are putting masala more and more as people seem to like it .. toi circulation seems to increase

But this was real height
I mean how cud any damn sensible journalist write
"Conquered Her"
That was too much on indifference on the morality while giving news !

One more rape case...i dont understand what drives a man/guy to rape a female..its very easy for them to commit such an shameless act but ever wonder what pain it leaves??? its not the rape of a body..its always a soul ("aatma") which gets raped...

well forget publishing of articles...i dont understand why our govt. is so impotent in these matters..why cant it take a stand against rapists..why dont they castrate or chop of their **** to teach a lesson to them and others prospective (buddy) rapists...

anyways, nice post...i know i was sounding like a feminist but cud not stop myself from posting a comment.

Barring few, all newspapers and news channel have brought down their content standard considerably. They all have started catering to people looking for Masala. But media cannot continue on the some way which is not acceptable to the junta. Masala Providing business is flourishing because it is having takers. Very few people read such news items with sympathy towards victim, most of them read such things for their enjoyment and that's the bigger issue. Rot is in the society which is reflected in newspapers and news channels.
But still, media can not run away from its share of responsibilities.

Why to blame TOI alone, HT is no better!!It seems the duty of present day journalists is just to inform us abt the rape cases, what happened to the victim, did she get justice,is not there business...!
Sometimes I worry where are we heading to?A society where a girl has to be fearful in her own house?
Really pathetic.
