Adjusting to Dial Up

well i m back to the same posn as i was a year earlier- on a dialup internet connection. one of the implicit advantage of being a s/w enggr is the availablity of a high speed net connectivity in the office. u r free to browse all day, googling on the wierdest things one can ever think of, checking fr mails every 5 minutes or so, reading other blogs, downloading all kinda softwares .......... the list goes on .


but now i m back on dialup again. the overall scene in delhi regarding the net has improved in last 1 yr. there r a no of service providers jostling amongst each other to provide the broadband connection n the prices hv also come tumbling down . but my cable wallah is not ready to provide the net thru cable service .. n i dont really blame him fr tht. the problem in my area is the poor penetration of computers . it doesnt seem profitable fr the cable wallah to provide this service here.


so i m now forced to make judicious use of the limited resources available to me . with a pathetic downloading speed n inflated telephone bills it doesnt make sense to be online fr a long time. it takes a hell lot of time to open even the normal sites like google n rediff. disconnections r also as frequent as smooches in a mallika sehrawat's movie. so wht i hv done now ?? the googling has been stopped, mail checking hv been reduced to once a day n the habit of reading other blogs has been discontinued. this transformation has been really painful. initially there was a lot of frustration but now it has started becoming the habit. anyone who has been on dialup can easily empathise with me.
