The Life

June is supposed to be month of summer vacations......... a time when each student ought to be relaxing at home ........ in front of his/her coolers n fans ............ gulping down 'shikanjis' n 'neembu paani'...........trying to beat the suppressing heat of the summer. but goin by the newspapers this doesn't seem to be case with the delhities.

everyday i can see the pics of long queues of students in the scorching heat........ mind u - these queues r not fr movie tickets outside a pvr but fr getting admission forms fr different colleges under delhi university. there is a mad scramble fr limited no of seats . the cutoff percentages r soaring each yr. the students with percentages in higher 90s r worried abt getting a course of their choice in a college of their choice, those wud lower percentages r hopeful of making to any of the decent colleges...... everybdy seems pretty concerned. u can see this distress on the faces of their parents. the familiar question heard these dayz has been ' mere bete ka admission kahan hoga'.

fr people in the science stream - also goin on r the entrance exams of various institutes- iit, nsit, aieee, medical n so on. people hv put in a lot of effort over last 2 yrs or even more.....juggling with both - board exams on one hand n these entrance exams on the other.

life has become very fast n too competitive. u can see the small kids with those backbreaking bags . when it shud hv been the time fr playing with the neighbourhood kids in fields these kids r huddled together in a tution class... when they shud hv been sitting in the lap of their grandparents n listening the stories abt angels they r sitting on their study table -mugging fr a test scheduled a few days later..... when they shud hv been watching the antics of the birds in the sky they r reading abt animals getting extinct on the planet earth. getting up early fr the school, coming frm school only to go fr the tuition classes n then goin to their study desks - seems to hv become a laborious routine fr them. cant really blame the parents fr tht . the career life has taken a ascendence over the personal life. so people r ready to sacrifice today fr the pleasures of tomorrow.

sometimes the life's experiences can be described in 3 simple words - life moves on. the time which has passed is gone n cannot be retrieved. so rather than just thinking abt the big achievements u r goin to accomplish in future one shud savor the small light moments of today. it does help to be concerned abt ur future but this concern shud not be allowed to wipe out one's present. Life is not JUST about a few big moments , but ALSO about a million small ones.

In the mad race of life people have forgotton to enjoy the small-small pleasures which make up "Life"

one more thing to add
the problem is more so in india
the population here has been a Boon and Bane both
Cut throat competition vs The Top Quality the emerges out of such a competition

amit, I guess the last line hould have been "Life is not JUST about a few big moments , but ALSO a million small ones.
"

Big achivements in your life are the things that make you what u are. I agree that enjoying life is equally important but then both big and small things have their own importance.

Vaise ek gaana yaad aa raha hai after reading your post .."Chhoti choti baaton ki hain yaadein badi ..bhoole nahi beeti hui ek chhoti ghadi"

Moreover, its not just the population thats creating such situations .The mind set of Indian people is also to be blamed. Why do we always target at studies? Why dont parents encourage their children to take up sports or for that matter anything that doesn't require "More than 90 %",as a career?

Chalo keep pondering..I need to go back to my coding work:)

yeha mitali.. u r right abt the last line n i m now incorporating the change. :)

i totally agree with u. the big things shape up ur career n ur life. but just fr the big goals in life u shud not be overlooking the small victories u achieve everyday. thts the point i was trying to make. vaise kya baat hai tumhe office mein baithe baithe gaane yaad aate rahtein hain . :)
