Its nice to be back

The vacations are over n i m back at WIMWI. For the ignorant IIMA is also known as 'Well known Institute of Management in Western India' n we all r proud WIMWIans. The session starts from tomorrow n we hv sum interesting subjects like Marketing getting introduced. We were given a big pile of books fr the next sem.... once i thot of hiring a rickshaw to carry those books from the admin office to the dorm....:). n seeing guys carrying those books to the dorms made me remember the scene in Bollywood movie 'Border' where Sunil Shetty moves fwd with a tank mine clutched in his hands to destroy a Pakistani tank.......:). n the miserable part is tht we hv sum books of last term to carry fwd in this term.....n the other sets of case materials which is usually handed to us every second weekend.

when i reached back home, i expected my parents to be delighted. but they simply looked at me in horror . i looked like a kid frm somalia- deprived of basic amenities of life like food n sleep....looked like a real junglee with those long, unkempt hair n unshaven face..... i hv lost sum weight in last 3 months here....... my tummy which i had cultivated so assiduously during my stint as a software engg was gone ...... suddenly i needed the crucial support of belt to prevent my pants from falling........ n my parents were simply enraged....... considering the fact tht i m a real lazy person, my parents simply pounced on me n i had a series of long lectures during the whole vacation whatever the little time i was at home...:). the final lecture had the indirect threat of getting me out of the insti if the similar trend continued in the next term........ i m just hoping tht they did not really meant wht they said. i cant afford to be out of the inti after the gruelling 3 months i had till now....:).

meanwhile the timing of the vacations was gud.......one of my friend (garg) had returned from US a couple of days back......2 others( Ajay n mallu) had just celebrated their birthdays...so i had a number of parties to catch up n 5 days were simply not enuf......... adjusting 3 big parties within a space of 5 days was a real herculean task considering tht i had to meet my friends from my earlier organisation, relatives ( chachas, chachis, cousins......), juniors eager to take 'gyan' over CAT. i thot tht the vacation wud help me to take rest n catch the much needed sleep. but the vacations were as taxing as the first term....with so many people to meet n so little time on hand.......but sumhow i managed it all.

The series of late night parties continued....... with garg having multitude of stories to tell abt his 'adventures' in US, abt the places he visited, the cars he drove n the innumerable successful n unsuccessful attempts he made to make 'friendship' with 'firangi' girls....abt saving money even by hving a torrid time in cooking the food n then eating it.....certainly not the case of having ur own cake n eating it too.......considering the kind of food a normal guy is 'capable' of cooking....:).

anyways the vacations were gud....helped me to unwind...recharge my batteries.....this term is goin to be another hectic one. with summer placements approaching there wud be a numerous ppts to attend, a lot of companies whose profiles need to be browsed over, CVs to be made n so on...time to change gears again......

On winamp

Aankho mein sapne liye
Ghar se hum chal to diye
Jane yeh rahein ab le jayengi kahan
mitti ki khusboo aayi
palkon mein aanson layein
palkon par reh jayenge yaadon ka jahan
manzil nayi hai, anjaana hai kaarwan
chalna akele hai yahan
Tanha dil.........

cant really think of a better song to descibe my feelings......

End of a phase- the 1st term

Half an hour from now i wud be writing the last paper of my first term, the 8th paper in last 4 days...... n then this term wud get over..... the toughest phase or at least the the perceived toughest phase wud be over..... the experiences hv been really humbling.... totally new, totally different but all worth remembering....

i havent been doing tht well as i expected when i came here...... the first time in my life when i really felt competition...... other places where i hv studied earlier hv also been competitive but their competition level was peanuts as compapred to this place........ fr me the results hv been similar....not exactly in topmost guys in term of acads but in the list of guys who hv been doing 'just ok'.... life has been always been of this kind to me..... i dont really remember in last 5 years if i scored heavily in any of the engg term exams or exams here......just managing to score decent enuf to keep my head above the water.....:). the only exams in which i did really well were the CAT n FMS...n probably thts the reason why i m here....

chalo i m now goin back home....away from all assignments, quizzes, submissions, presentations, reports....... where i dont hv to compete, just relax n unwind myself, meet old friends......dont hv to think abt deadlines apart frm the date on which i hv to come back to Ahmedabad.......

so Delhi, here i come
