Hyderabad RAWKS big time....

Lately I hv become a real infrequent blogger.... though it is not due to my workload at ITC, but the primary factor is unavailability of a PC with net at home.. With 4 people fighting for a single laptop, it is more than usual tht u hv to curb ur desire of putting sumthing on the blog.. one of the flat mates here, himself, is a blogger n he writes poems with great depths n philosophy, some of which tends to go over my head. he has also got a book published of his works... check out the link at acrossthewall.blogspot.com

Meanwhile, went to Hyderabad last weekend... This being an extended weekend, with May 1 being the International Labour day (Long Live Communism :D) . n it was a good time to catch up with my old pal Ajay who is working as a software engg there. He has recently purchased a Pulsar which we made good use of during the last 2 days.

Went to see the Golcunda fort n found this to be amazing piece of architecture. It was
- The fort is one of the best places to experience the fantastic acoustical effects, characteristic of the engineering marvels at Golconda. A hand clap at a certain point below the dome at the entrance reverberates and can be heard clearly at the 'Bala Hisar' pavilion, the highest point almost a kilometre away. This acted as the warning note to residents in case of danger though now it is a mere amusing diversion to visitors... analogous to modern day wireless system.
- There was a weight of 240Kg placed at a corner in the fort. its utility was simple. Only those guys who cud lift this weight were recruited in army. Well this seemed super human to me. If we can somehow bring some of those soldiers disregarding the time barrier today, India can certainly win a couple of gold medals in weight lifting in olympics today. but we can afford only a few of these soldiers... each of these soldier used to eat 3Kg of ration in each meal, which made it roughly 9Kgs of rations per day
- Saw a 12 feet rifle which cud fire at target 1 mile away...n cud hit them with amazing accuracy
- There was a lady named Taramati, who used to perform singing n dancing fr the king. She used to sing and the king used to listen sitting at a place 3Km away from the performance stage. The winds were strong enuf to carry her voice over a distance of 3 Kms... sounds amazing...
- In a couple of big halls, communication between 2 people cud be done by 2 people standing close to walls 10 metres away n then speaking my placing their lips on the walls... n any person standing in the middle of hall wud hv no inkling abt wht these guys were talking abt
- There was a 8Km long tunnel which stretched from the fort to Char Minar in the centre of city. n the tunnel was gud enuf fr soldiers galloping on their horses...12 ft height n 10 ft wide..... real big subway... looks like Metro guys can take a tip frm there.

I also visited other places like Qutub Tombs, Char Minar, secret lake, Hussain sagar lake, Lumbini park... But i am really impressed by the efforts govt is taking to woo investors to the state... fundoo infrastructure, wide n pot-hole free roads, no traffic jams, green city, with a lot of emphasis on cleaniness (which is pretty unusual abt any Indian city) . I also went to Hi-Tech city where a lot of software firms are setting up their campuses n tht place is also mind blogging.. prices havent still touched the roof there... also the laser show at Lumbini park was spell bounding.... which again had the basic theme- Hyderabad is developing n developing fast.

The two day stint at the city was really gud... n i m pretty impressed with the way the city is growing n developing. its difficult to judge any place within a span of 2 days, but the first impression which the city made on me is impressive... looks like we hv another Banglore in making where the investors r sure to flock in droves soon.
